At this point, you have worked through the most challenging steps: identifying risks and discussing them. Now there’s a sense of relief -- finally we can take action! In this section, we focus on solutions: examples of common solutions, how to make a plan, and how to pay for it.

If we think about Mary, her mom Irene has several options to choose from and can create a plan with concrete steps. If she has the funds to buy the product and hire someone to install them, that's great. If not, there are still ways to find help in the community.

There are many solutions available to help reduce fall risks at home. You can share these with older adults to give them ideas.

Bathrooms can be one of the most challenging areas in the home to modify. The space is often small, leaving little room to add new features. At the same time, bathrooms are closely tied to a person’s sense of independence.

Making these changes can be difficult, especially when older adults don’t have extra money for purchases or installation. There are different ways to help cover the cost, including support from charities, nonprofit organizations, and government programs.
