Fund the Solutions

You're almost there! The older adult has identified what needs to change, is ready for the change, and has a solution in mind. The final step is to fund the solution, including the items and the installation.

1. Area Aging Agencies (AAA) are good places to start. They offer information and referral services, where you can inquire about local home repaire programs for older adults. Some programs are run by local government, while others by non-profit organizations.

Some programs provide repair services directly, while some provide small grant for older adults to hire their own contractors.

Here's a website to help you locate your local area aging agencies.

2. Talk to your doctors and see if any items may be covered by health insurance, since they are related to fall-prevention.
